Your Google Login Account

If you plan on participating in any of our communities, you will need to log in using a valid Google username and password. If you click the Google Sign In link located in the upper right corner of this web page, you will be redirected to a secure Google log in page. ECMINSTITUTE does not have any access to either this web page or your Google account. When you log into Google you are automatically logged in to our website. One reason why we built ECMHUB using Google App Engine was to make logging in extremely easy. If you use Gmail or any other Google application, chances are when you visit our website you will be already logged in!

Totally Free Web Conferencing for Life

The ECMINSTITUTE provides free web conferencing services for its members including integrated screen sharing, teleconferencing, and whiteboarding for up to 20 participates. These services are available on a limited basis for instant, ad hoc, meetings. If you wish to schedule a meeting in advance and promote your event to our members, we recommend that you fill out a "Schedule" form available in the right margin on each community home page. ECMINSTITUTE will sponsor events supporting up to 100 participants. If you launch a Web Conference, a browser plugin will be automatically downloaded and installed. You may invite participates to your conference by emailing your Google username which represents the conference ID which they will need to join your meeting. Your participates will not need to install any plugins to join your conference. A Single Page Website

Our website was built from the ground up incorporating AJAX or asynchronous JavaScript and XML. This means instead of navigating from page to page like a traditional website, you navigate by retrieving web page data on demand. When you click on a community, for instance, the main page area will clear and show an animated star indicating that new data, such as the latest news, is currently loading. Please be patient during this process. Sometimes, if you quickly click several functions the individual feeds could become out of sync causing displayed information to be either inaccurate or incomplete. Please keep in mind if you click your browser back, forward, or refresh buttons the entire window, including which community you are in, will be completely reset.

Efficient Information Review and Navigation

Retrieved data is displayed in a form of summary descriptions. If you click the title of the feed item, a new window will appear containing the feed source. If you wish to navigate directly to the feed source, in another browser window for instance, a direct link is provided in the upper left hand corner of this window. To review the summary information and not navigate to the source, each feed item contains an expand button next to the MORE.. label. If you click this button you may read summary information without waiting to retrieve the source web page.

Our Universal Comment and Rating System

One great feature our website offers is the ability to rate and comment on feed items without logging in to individual websites. When you expand an item look for the Add Comment button located at the bottom. If you are logged into your Google account you can add comments and rate any feed item. When you add a comment you will instantly see it appear at the bottom of the comment list. Note that global comments (i.e. comments added by all users) are only updated when you revisit our website. To reduce potential spam, you are only permitted to add a second comment to a feed item after someone else adds their comment.
